The Friends of the German Historical Institute, Washington, DC, are now accepting nominations for the annual Fritz Stern Dissertation Prize, which since 1997 recognizes the best doctoral dissertation on a topic in German history written at a North American university. Dissertations that have been completed, defended and authenticated between January 1 and December 31, 2023 are eligible for the current competition. Candidates must be nominated by their dissertation advisors; the deadline for nominations is March 1, 2024.
