On April 4, 2025, the American Historical Association issued a statement that strongly defended the National Endowment for the Humanities (view the text here). Given that several members of the Central European History Society have been directly affected by the recent abrupt cancellation of grants and other funding from the NEH, the Society’s executive board voted on April 16 to endorse the AHA’s statement. Accordingly, the Society’s name will be added to the on-line list of organzations that have signed onto the statement.
